President Joe Biden has reiterated the White House's commitment to fully fund the replacement of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Maryland. The federal government is expected to cover the entire cost of the new bridge, which is estimated to be around $1.7 billion. The bridge collapsed after a cargo ship lost power and crashed into one of its support piers, causing significant damage. The state of Maryland is also seeking federal reimbursement for cleanup efforts and relief for workers affected by the collapse. Lawmakers are working on legislation to ensure that the federal government pays the full cost of replacing the bridge. The project is expected to be completed by October 2028.
