The Washington Apple Commission has received a boost in funding for export promotion with the launch of the new Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP) by the US government. The program aims to expand market opportunities and trade possibilities for US food and agricultural products in emerging markets such as South and South-East Asia. The US agriculture secretary, Tom Vilsack, has authorized $1.2bn in funding for RAPP, with the Washington Apple Commission being awarded $7m in the first tranche. This funding will be used to increase brand awareness and consumer loyalty for Washington apples in international markets. The Commission is excited about the opportunity and looks forward to the benefits that the RAPP funds will bring.
