Taiwan's Role in Global Trade and Development Explored at EBRD Annual Meeting
At the 33rd EBRD Annual Meeting and Business Forum in Yerevan, Armenia, Vincent Yao Chin-Hsiang, representative of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK, discussed Taiwan's role as a key trading partner with Trade Finance Global (TFG). With a population of 23.3 million, Taiwan is a major player in global trade, particularly in the fields of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and semiconductors.
Chin-Hsiang highlighted Taiwan's collaboration with multilateral development banks, such as the EBRD, ADB, IDB, and CABEI, in over 400 projects, showcasing the country's expertise in technology and international cooperation. Taiwan's manufacturing industry, which constitutes 70% of its GDP growth, is a significant contributor to its export-oriented economy.
With Taiwan producing a large percentage of the world's network devices, functional textile and apparel, laptops and motherboards, and advanced semiconductors, the country is positioned as a strong trading partner in the global market. By leveraging its strategic partnerships and technological capabilities, Taiwan aims to continue contributing to the global economy.
