Texas Governor Greg Abbott celebrated the state's job growth, which has outpaced the national average over the past year. The May employment data released by the Texas Workforce Commission showed that Texas had reached historic highs in total jobs, the number of working Texans, and the size of the labor force. Governor Abbott attributed this success to Texas being a hub for innovation and a strong workforce. The data also revealed that Texas added 41,800 non-farm jobs in May, reaching a total of 14,195,600 jobs. The state has added 316,700 jobs from May 2023 to May 2024, outpacing the nation by half a point. Governor Abbott also announced appointments to 11 new business court divisions, aimed at resolving complex commercial disputes efficiently.
