Saudi calls for unified international cybersecurity efforts

Saudi Arabia's representative to the UN, Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, has called for unified international efforts to prioritize and strengthen cybersecurity. During a UN Security Council debate, Al-Wasel emphasized the need for a serious and practical international approach to address evolving cyberspace threats. He highlighted Saudi Arabia's rapid progress in cybersecurity, citing the country's achievements and initiatives, such as the establishment of the National Institute for Cybersecurity and the Global Cybersecurity Forum. Al-Wasel also mentioned the Kingdom's efforts to unify regional cybersecurity cooperation, resulting in the establishment of a specialized ministerial committee for cybersecurity under the Gulf Cooperation Council and the creation of the Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers. The UN praised Saudi Arabia's contributions, stating that the country provides capacity-building exercises worldwide, with over 40 states and organizations participating in such training.
