Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that the drafting of rules under the data protection legislation is in the advanced stage, with industry-wide consultations slated soon. He also emphasized India's goal of doubling electronics production and adding jobs under the Modi 3.0 government. The implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act will be based on a 'digital-by-design' principle, with a new platform being created in-house. The minister assured that the rules of DPDP will not be rushed and will involve a consultative process. Additionally, Vaishnaw highlighted the ministry's priority in the area of electronics production, with India aiming to become a global manufacturing powerhouse. He expressed confidence in the progress of various plants, including Micron's, and has received support from the chief ministers of Assam and Gujarat. Manpower training is also underway to build a strong skills base in chip manufacturing.
