OQ Launches OQ Digital Hub to Develop National Workforce Skills

Muscat: OQ, the global integrated energy group, has announced the launch of the OQ Digital Hub, in partnership with leading international and local companies in the information technology sector. The initiative aims to provide high-level training programs and globally recognized certifications to enhance the professional qualifications of participants, with a focus on developing national workforce skills.

The Hub will welcome its first cohort of trainees, composed of OQ employees, in September, with plans to evaluate the initiative after one year. This move aligns with Oman Vision 2040 goals to leverage digital resources and contribute to the nation’s development goals.

In the presence of Dr Ali bin Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, and Dirk Lölke, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Sultanate of Oman, OQ signed 14 memoranda of cooperation with international companies to enhance the Hub by providing training programs.

The initiative aims to prepare young talents for the job market, enhance diversity and inclusion in the digital sector, create opportunities for disabled individuals, and promote digital innovation through entrepreneurship. It also seeks to address the social and ethical impacts of digital transformation, contributing to Oman’s economic growth and diversification.

The involvement of these companies in the hub will contribute by adding value to the agreements signed with the OQ group and its companies, and accelerate digital transformation, foster SMEs, and train entrepreneurs to hone their IT skills.
