AI is revolutionizing higher education, with companies like Tutello already trailblazing AI-enabled tutoring. The evolution of AI in education is expected to lead to AI solely teaching a notable percentage of courses across the globe by 2030. This shift is driven by changes in student behavior and expectations, as students now expect immediate responses and live in the "moment of now." Faculty members are urged to stress critical thinking, make experiential activities central to the class, protect their intellectual property, and decline participation in AI pilot projects. The narrative that AI will free up professors for more "high-touch engagement" with students is being challenged, and faculty are encouraged to ask big questions and not just jump on the AI bandwagon.
