Record Number of Travelers Expected for July 4th Holiday

According to AAA, nearly 71 million people are expected to be traveling during the July 4th week, setting a new record that exceeds pre-pandemic totals. The increase is attributed to more Americans taking extended trips around Independence Day, with 60.6 million people traveling by car and 5.74 million people flying to their destinations. Gas prices are slightly lower than last year, but the cost effect for drivers is greater due to inflation. The U.S. economy is still showing signs of solid growth, with spending on travel, restaurant meals, and other services rising at a 3.3% rate in the first quarter of the year.
