Japan to support domestic antibiotics industry to reduce reliance on China
The Japanese government is set to provide support to the domestic antibiotics industry in an effort to reduce its heavy reliance on China for the supply chain. The measures will include subsidies to makers of active ingredients and a government purchasing scheme. This new program is expected to be created as early as the current fiscal year. Japanese pharmaceutical companies typically use imported active ingredients to produce finished antibiotics.
