Union Minister S Jaishankar urges businesses to collaborate with government to revive manufacturing sector to attain goal of 'Viksit Bhrat' with GDP of USD 30 trillion by 2047.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has urged business associations to partner with the government to ensure the revival of India's manufacturing sector with the target of surpassing USD 30 trillion GDP by 2047. He emphasized the goal of 'Viksit Bharat' (developed India) by 2047, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jaishankar made the remarks during an interactive session titled 'Viksit Bharat@2047,' hosted by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata. The BJP-led government at the Centre has set ambitious economic goals of reaching a USD 5 trillion economy by 2027-28 and USD 30 trillion by 2047. Jaishankar said the immediate step of the government would be to achieve a gross domestic product (GDP) growth of USD 5 trillion, with the next target being to become a USD 30 trillion economy in the Viksit Bharat journey. He also mentioned that several studies have expressed confidence that India can achieve this goal by 2047 or even earlier.
