New York State's Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program is offering competitive grants for projects aimed at building food system resilience. The program, announced by Governor Kathy Hochul, is a partnership with the USDA and aims to modernize agricultural facilities, improve training, and facilitate the purchase of new equipment. The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets will administer the grant program in partnership with Farm and Food Growth Fund, Inc. and Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust. The program will provide funding for infrastructure and equipment for the aggregation, processing, manufacturing, storage, transporting, wholesaling, or distribution of agricultural food products. Eligible applicants can apply for grants ranging from $10,000 to $3 million. The deadline for infrastructure grant applications is June 28 at 5:00 pm. The program aims to support smaller farms and ranches, new and beginning farmers and ranchers, underserved producers, veteran producers, and underserved communities. For more information and to apply, visit the FFGF website or the USDA's AMS Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure webpage. The program is part of a larger effort to strengthen the agricultural community and create a more resilient food supply chain in New York State.
