The West African Competitiveness Observatory has been launched, providing policymakers and businesses in the region with an online tool to track trade competitiveness and identify new business opportunities. The platform, launched by the ECOWAS Commission and the International Trade Centre with support from the EU, aims to unleash economic growth in West Africa by tapping into the region's untapped export potential. The Observatory offers three modules for monitoring and analyzing trade competitiveness at national and regional levels, assessing and integrating regional value chains, and facilitating cross-border collaboration for businesses. The launch comes at a time when West Africa faces challenges from globalization and technological advancements, and aims to position the region as a hub of economic growth and opportunities on the global stage. According to ITC's export potential estimates, West Africa could add $45.7 billion in exports to the world by 2027.
