E. Jean Carroll Seeks Expedited Appeal of Verdict in Defamation Civil Trial Against Trump

E. Jean Carroll's legal team has requested a federal appeals court to expedite Donald Trump's appeal of the verdict in their first trial, where a jury awarded Carroll $5 million in damages after finding Trump liable for defamation and battery in May 2023. Carroll is pushing for oral arguments for the appeal to be scheduled by July, citing Trump's history of delaying proceedings. Her lawyers argue that an expedited appellate ruling on the first case would help promote a timely resolution in Trump's separate appeal of the verdict in the second trial. They also highlighted Carroll's age, stating that she is an 80-year-old woman who has been seeking justice for almost five years. The motion with the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals was filed on Tuesday.
