CBRE Expands Team with Cushman & Wakefield Vets
Real estate firm CBRE has announced the addition of Michael Hackett and Ryan Schubert to its Phoenix office. The two will lead retail investment sales in Arizona, bringing with them extensive experience in selling multi-tenant retail shopping centers throughout the Southwest. With a combined 45 years of experience, Hackett and Schubert previously held executive managing director roles at Cushman & Wakefield's Retail Investment Advisors. Their addition is expected to be invaluable as CBRE continues to serve its private and institutional retail clients.

Father's Day Spending Plans and Trends
New data shows that 94% of Father's Day celebrators plan to make a purchase for the holiday, with 65% of U.S. consumers planning to celebrate. The top plans for Father's Day include giving gifts, gathering with family and friends, grilling or barbecuing, and cooking or baking at home. The most popular gifts include gift cards, apparel, and tools or home improvement materials. Most celebrants plan to make their purchases from big box stores, and a third of shoppers plan to spend between $50 and $99 on their Father's Day items.

Consumer Confidence Holds Steady in May
The Numerator Consumer Sentiment Tracker for May shows that 41% of consumers are comfortable spending money on discretionary purchases. The May Consumer Confidence Score was 56.8, indicating that consumers feel neutral about their household finances. Other findings from the May report include that consumers are shopping for items on sale, using coupons/discount codes, and cooking at home to save money.

Big V Property Group Acquires Georgia Open-Air Center
Big V Property Group has acquired the Johns Creek Town Center in Suwanee, Ga., marking the firm's fifth community center in the state. The 303,297-sq.-ft. open-air center is anchored by major retailers including HomeGoods, Sprouts, Kohl’s, Ulta Beauty, Market by Macy’s, and PetSmart. The greater Atlanta region is home to more than six million residents, making it the eighth-largest market in the United States.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe Acquired by Blackstone
Private equity funds managed by Blackstone have completed the acquisition of Tropical Smoothie Cafe from Levine Leichtman Capital Partners. The deal valued the fast-casual chain at about $2 billion, and former CEO of Dunkin’ Brands, Nigel Travis, will serve as chairman for Tropical Smoothie Cafe. The company has more than 1,400 locations across 44 states and plans to continue its expansion with the support of Blackstone's capital and resources.
