Air cargo volumes continued to rise in April, marking the fifth consecutive month of double-digit year-on-year growth. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported an 11.1% increase in total demand compared to April 2023, with robust international air cargo traffic likely supported by booming e-commerce and capacity constraints in global maritime shipping. Despite a 6.5% reduction month-on-month, the global economy has been performing well, with Asia Pacific airlines leading the way in air cargo demand. European carriers also saw significant growth, while North American carriers had the worst performance. Overall, the prospects for continued strong demand are robust, according to IATA.
